Kathleen Latimer Obituary
Kathleen "Kathy" Latimer, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2011, surrounded by her family. Kathy was born June 9, 1921 in San Francisco. She was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine Horan. She is survived by her loving husband, Denver "Denny" Latimer. They were married for 67 years.
Kathy attended St. Anne's Elementary and graduated in 1939 from Presentation High School in San Francisco. Kathy acted in school plays during her high school years, and continued her love of acting in a once-active theater company in Los Molinos, where she played the lead role of "Purity Dean" in a production of "Pure As The Driven Snow." Kathy always loved music and enjoyed singing and playing her piano.
Kathy and Denny moved to Los Molinos in 1946, after the end of World War II. They established Latimer's Pharmacy, which they owned for 35 years. Early on, they remodeled a farmhouse on the north bank of Mill Creek. From this home, which she loved, pasture in front, creek in back, she guided her family with style and wit. She welcomed good-hearted visitors from all backgrounds, even an occasional politician. She taught generosity and compassion, and made wonderful life long friends. Kathy was fond of all children and babies, and she favored underdogs and long shots.
She was an avid Los Molinos High School "Bulldog" supporter, and a fan of high school athletics. She also enjoyed going to Cal Bear football games in Strawberry Canyon with friends. She was a long time San Francisco Giants fan and watched when they won the World Series last year.
She enjoyed traveling, including salmon fishing in Canada with friends, and especially a trip to Ireland, where she celebrated her 69th birthday dinner at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and Gerald Horan and sister-in-law, Virginia Horan.
Kathleen is survived by and was a loving mother and mother-in-law to Dennis (MaryAnn) Latimer, Mary Jo (Steve) Fox, Kathleen (James) Stalder, Elizabeth (George) Coffey, and Patrick (Cheryl) Latimer. She loved her 13 grandchildren, Denver, Dylan, Lizzie, Katie, Megan, Kelly, Jimmy, Patrick, Christopher, Michael, Kylie, Maureen and Brendan, and eight great-grandchildren, Bailey, Connor, Brendan, Jacob, Matthew, Daniel, Joseph and Abigail. Kathy is also survived by sister-in-law, Lynne Horan; four nephews, and two nieces.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Brusie Funeral Home in Chico. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church at 566 E. Lassen Ave. in Chico.
A brief graveside service will be held after the funeral at the Los Molinos Cemetery.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Talbott-King Scholarship Fund or the Los Molinos High School Alumni Association, in care of the funeral home or directly to the school.

Kathy Latimer was a very loving lady. She had a hug for everyone. I remember all the special things she did for our school. What a wonderful family she raised. I know she is missed by everyone. Bless her memory. Love to all Mike and Sandee Chrasta

I loved Kathy Latimer and loved being with her. Kathy was such a wonderful friend to my mother, Luella, and would always send her a beautiful card and note on her birthday. My mother saved them all, and they are now in our family keepsakes. Kathy and Mom will have a heavenly friendship. What an incredible sight last Friday after the service, driving past Latimer's Pharmacy and seeing the whole Latimer clan standing in front of it for a photo op. Sending loving thoughts and good wishes to the Latimer family.

I was saddened to hear that Kathy had passed away, but so glad I had such a good visit with Betsy a few days before and told her how much I loved her Mom. Kathy was such a gentle soul and I will never forget how she made a little girl feel so valuable and loved. My Mom would light up at the mention of Kathy's name and loved her so. Mary and I were wondering where all that "dramatic" talent came from. We knew your mom had a fabulous personality and we have really good memories of her. Hearing all of the wonderful things about your mom, grandma, great-grandma - I know all of the memories will keep you strong. For so many years going to Red Bluff I went through Corning, but this last weekend I had to go through Los Molinos and see "Latimers Pharmacy". I am blessed to be related to such a beautiful soul. Kathy always had a smile on her face, a glint in her eye and kind words along with her loving embrace. I will surely miss her (and her wit).
My prayers are with you and your spouses cousins, your children and grandchildren.
She is home now with Tom and Kit, Buzz, Virginia and Jerry, Andy, Mary and my Joy. We are all blessed to have known and been loved by them all. LuvUAll.
