Betty Mae Miller Obituary
BETTY MAE MILLER Aug. 21, 1922 to July 27, 2014 Betty was born in Oak Park, Illinois to Jay Porter Black and Louise Emily Schock. She had two older siblings, Marjorie Harriet and Richard Murray Black. The family moved from Illinois to Hollywood, California and then to San Francisco where Betty attended public school. She met Henry L. Miller "Hank" at age 19 in San Francisco, and they were married Oct. 15, 1942 in Durham, North Carolina where Hank was stationed in officer training prior to being shipped off to active duty in Europe. Following World War II they returned to San Francisco and remained in the Bay area to raise their 3 children. Betty was a devoted wife, loving mother, fulltime homemaker and enthusiastic community volunteer through her entire life. In 2001 Betty and Hank moved to Chico, California, where she finally got her dream home with a window over the kitchen sink. Her husband, Hank, her 3 children, James E. Miller III, Pamela L. Prater and Marsha A. Miller, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren survive her. All who knew her will miss her zest for life and willingness to serve. A Memorial for Betty will be held on August 21, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Bidwell Presbyterian Church, Chico, CA. To view obituary and send condolences online go to NewtonBracewell.com
