Floyd Norman Johnson Obituary
FLOYD NORMAN JOHNSON Floyd Johnson passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the age of 88 after a long battle with cancer. He was happy to return home for his final days. He was born February 15, 1926 in Crockett, Texas to James Elmer Johnson and Alice Mae Beavers. In the early 1940's the family moved to West Monroe, Louisiana. Floyd had one sister and two brothers, all preceding him in death. Floyd served in the Navy 1942-1947. After his military service, Floyd was employed by the Department of Defense in Alameda, California as an airplane inspector. He was known to his co-workers and mutual friends as "Johnny". In 1957 Floyd moved to Concord, California. He married Mary Helen Alarcon on February 24, 1968 in Oakland California. When Los Medianos Junior College opened in 1974, Floyd was one of the first students to attend and graduate from their two year program. In 1990 Floyd and Mary moved to Chico. During his retirement Floyd enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He had a wonderful orchard in his back yard and generously shared his fruit with the neighborhood. Floyd also loved his little dogs. He is survived by his wife Mary, three favorite nephews and five nieces. At his request, no formal services will be held. The arrangements are being handled by Newton-Bracewell.
