OWEN CORT July 19, 1919 - Nov. 12, 2012 Owen Cort, 93, of Oroville, CA, passed away peacefully on Nov. 2, 2012. Born in Benson, MN to Hattie and Edwin Cort, he lived most of his adult life in California: Montclair, Sonoma, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, and lastly in Oroville. Owen served in the Navy as an officer in WWII and continued in the reserves. In retirement, he was active in the Redwood Empire Chapter of Military Officers of America. His final rank was Lt. Commander. He earned a business degree at University of Minnesota, and later a Master's in Business. Early in his career, he worked as a stock broker, later he worked as an administrator for Kaiser Permanente for 25 plus years. Owen's interests and activities included, family, travel, investing, politics, volunteering, Boy Scouts, construction and woodworking. Owen is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Haglund Cort, and sister, Carol Service. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Cort Nickel and husband, Lowell Nickel of Oroville, CA; proud grandfather to Alex Nickel and Scott Nickel, currently in school in Reno, NV. Also his loving friend, Blanche McQuaid from Rohnert Park, CA. The family wishes to thank Prestige Assisted Living Staff for their great care and support.
