BEN BARKER A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Colusa Cemetery, 1974 Wilson Avenue, Colusa; for Benjamin H. Barker. Ben died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at his residence in Chico with his family by his side. Ben was born November 14, 1928 to Ephriam and Mary Barker in Elk Grove, CA. He was raised and educated in Lake County and lived in Santa Rosa for a short time. Ben served in the United States Army. November 8, 1950, he married Millie Rose. He has lived in Chico for 60 years. Ben was a supervisor at Tri Co, which then became Tennaco West Nut Processing for 37 years, he retired in 1989. Ben enjoyed being outdoors, camping, the beach and fishing with his grandson Robby. He also enjoyed looking for and collecting coins. Ben was proud of watching both his son and grandson play baseball. Ben enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ben was a poet, writing and publishing his work, his name is entered in the world of poetry. Ben is survived by his wife, Millie; a son, Rich (Yola); brothers, Jack, Ted, Earl; sisters, Ada and Suzie; grandchildren, Melissa, Jason and Robby; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Tristan, Tyler, Lilah, Isaac and Shane. A daughter, Jan McCain preceded him in 2010. The family would like to thank Enloe Hospice, Pastor Bob Hansen and Doctor Potter for all of the love and care they have provided.
