PETER FREDERICK BOYLE Peter Boyle, a longtime resident of Chico, died of heart problems on July 4th, 2013. He was 68 years old. At the time of his death he was living in the Townsend House on Ilahee Lane. Peter was born on July 24, 1944 in Alameda, California, the son of a career Naval officer and an English teacher. During Peter's childhood he moved almost every year, living up and down both Coasts. He also lived and went to school in Hawaii, Midway Island, Yokohama, Japan and Saigon, Vietnam. He served in the Army during the Viet nam war and after completing his service returned to college at Chico State University. He enjoyed Chico more than any of the other many places he had lived and therefore made it his permanent home. For one of the historical festivals he grew a large handle bar mustache that was so popular that he wore it the rest of his life. After finishing college he worked at Cabos restaurant and bar for several years. He then worked for many years at the Tower book store downtown. Peter loved to travel and returned to visit his childhood home on Midway Island fifteen years ago. He also visited Alaska and recently went on a road trip to visit another childhood home in Oxnard, California. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Boyle Torrey, of Bethesda, Maryland.
