James Michael Nelson Obituary
JAMES MICHAEL NELSON Born December 16th, 1944 to James Bengt Nelson and Viola Marie Swart in Jamestown, South Dakota . He came to California as a toddler to live in Santa Rosa, and then in Vallejo . He went through Vallejo schools until his graduation from Vallejo High School in 1962. Jim graduated from Vallejo Junior College in 1965. In September 1965, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After spending two years at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, he was then stationed in Thailand at the Khorat Royal Thai Air Base. While in Thailand he met his future bride. He separated from the air force at Travis Air Force Base in the fall of 1968. He went back to Thailand in the spring of 1969 and married his loving wife, Rajeswari Samy, on May 6, 1969, in Bangkok Thailand . In the fall of 1969 they moved to Chico to finish college. The first of two sons, Krishnan Eric, was born on February 13, 1971 . In June of that same year, he graduated from California State University , Chico , with a degree in Geography. The following spring he completed his teaching credential requirements for a California Dual Life Credential. He began teaching in Los Molinos, and taught there for 28 years before retiring. His second son, Kumaran Andre, was born on June 29, 1973 . He has been a member of the Butte County Sheriff's Posse since 1984, serving as the Posse Secretary and Mounts Lieutenant. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 44 years Rajeswari, sons Krishnan Eric and Kumaran Andre, a brother William E., a niece Kristen Marie Cargile, and two grandnephews. He enjoyed travelling with his wife and friends, riding, antiquing, gardening, farming, and his cows and sheep. Please make any donations to the Butte County Sheriff's Mounted Posse, Mounted Unit. Graveside services for James will be held Saturday August 3,2013 at 10:00 am at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico . Condolences may be sent on line at BF.com
