Robert John Silveira Obituary
ROBERT JOHN SILVEIRA Feb. 5, 1945-Aug. 10, 2013 Robert John Silveira was born to John and Francis Silveira at Roses' Maternity home in Orland, California. He was raised in the Lake District and helped his father John with the hay business from an early age. Bob originally attended Plaza School and was a graduate of Orland High School (Class of 1962) where he met Trudy Cufaude. They married on September 25, 1965. He graduated Chico State in May of 1972 and opened Silveira Auto Wrecking just a few months later. Bob was a member of the Northern California Auto Dismantlers Association for many years and took great pride in the fact that his sons' were very involved in the wrecking yard at an early age. The lure of a two cylinder John Deere and two-wire baler was so great that he continued to bale hay at night while running the wrecking yard during the day. Gradually he was able to go back to his roots of custom baling as a career and having the cars as his passion. Bob was the President of the Orland Rural Fire District and a past member of the Orland Holy Ghost Club and Knights of Columbus. Robert is pre-deceased by his wife Trudy Alice Silveira, and his parents John and Frances Silveira. He is survived by his beloved sister Nancy (Silveira) Villalobos, sibling Mike, his children Robert A. Silveira (Karrie), David Silveira (Jolene) and Jamee (Silveira) Mendonca (Justin); his grandchildren, Steven and Alisyn Silveira and Emily and June Mendonca. Rosary will be held at St. Dominics Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. Tues., Aug. 20, 2013. Graveside services will be held at the Catholic Cemetery on Co. Rd P, Orland with a celebration of life immediately following at the Glenn County Fair Grounds Arts and Crafts Building. In the spirit of Bob. Please drive your favorite classic vehicle for an impromptu show and shine. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the following; Orland Volunteer Fire Department, Just For Children or Save The Salt. F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary of Orland is handling all arrangements.
