EVELYN RUTH SMITH-FRITTER A memorial service for Evelyn Fritter, 92 of Hamilton City, CA and formerly a long-time resident of Chico, CA will be held on September 14, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Hamilton City. Evelyn passed away on August 26, 2013 at Enloe Medical Center in Chico. She was born on April 25, 1921 in Chico to Newt Smith and Vera Brigham-Smith. Evelyn attended Chico High School and Chico Business College and in 1948 she wed Dale S. Fritter. Evelyn and Dale owned and operated Fritter's Market in Hamilton City until 1970 and Evelyn was employed at Holly Sugar until it closed. She was a member of Hamilton City Women's Club; Friend's of Athletics for Hamilton High School and Ladies of Pythian Sisters and volunteered at Blood Source in Chico for over twenty-five years. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, Giants Baseball, Sacramento Kings Basketball and was an avid local high school sports supporter. She will be missed by her son, Roger Fritter of Hamilton City; her brothers, Melvin W. (Esther) Smith and Robert (Linda) Smith, all of Chico; granddaughter, Stacy (Adam) Shasky of LeGrand, CA; grandson, Scott L. (Chrissie) Fritter of Chico; step grandchildren, Jeffrey, Angela, Penny and Cindy Buktaw; great grandsons, Bailey, Nolan and Colby Fritter and Tristan and Spencer Shasky; eleven step great grandchildren; nieces, Janet, Debra, Susan and Kym and nephew, Jeff. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; sister, Dorothy and niece, Linda. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Evelyn's name to Friend's of Athletics for Hamilton City High School or to Hamilton City Women's Club, in care of Affordable Mortuary who are handling the arrangements.
