VELMA MORRISON Velma Morrison was born on March 15th, 1920 in Clearwater, Idaho. She passed away September 24th at the age of 93. Velma was a long time resident of Oroville and a dedicated member of the Foothill Blvd. Church of Christ for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Morrison; daughter, June Thurman; and brother, Ervin Shoemaker. Velma is survived by two daughters, Joanne Morrison and Chris Benamati; four grandchildren, Michelle Gentry, Tommy Holman, Allen Holman, and Gordon Morrison; five great grandchildren; and her brother, Glen Shoemaker. For many years Velma worked as an instructional aide at Sierra Avenue Elementary School and was also an in-home care provider for the elderly. She was known for her conscientious work and gentle, sweet manner. She loved the lord, her family, and her friends. Her kindness, generosity, patience, and determination were an inspiration to all who knew her; and she will be forever loved and missed. Services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Scheer Memorial Chapel in Oroville.
