DIANE LAKE HAIGHT, PHD 1935-2013 A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 2341 Floral Ave. in Chico Ca. on Saturday, October 19th, 2013 at 2 PM. Diane was born in Portland, Oregon, to John and Vera Lake. She received her BA from Louis and Clark as a teacher of the deaf, Masters Degree at Michigan State University, and went on to earn a PhD in Stockton, Ca. from the University of the Pacific, specializing in early childhood special education. She pioneered the infant-toddler sign language program and contributed to transforming the lives of the hearing impaired. She retired after thirty years as an educator for Stockton Unified School District. Diane met her husband, Douglas Haight, while stationed in France with the Special Army Services. Diane and Doug were married a happy and fulfilled fifty years. Diane is survived by three sons, Doug, Harold, Ted and their lovely wives, Rachel, Maria, and Kelly. She was especially proud of her six grandchildren. She will be missed dearly.
