James A. Masterson Obituary
JAMES A. MASTERSON James Masterson, 92 passed away peacefully February 25, 2014. He was born in Geneva, IL on June 2, 1921 the youngest son of Walter and Myrtle Masterson. Jim was a WWII veteran in the Marine Corp and a member of the 4th Marine Division. He served in the Pacific Theater and encountered battles including Iwo Jima, Saipan and Tinian. Jim's training never left him and the motto of the Marines "Semper Fidelis "Latin for "Always Faithful "was evident in his civilian life. He remained faithful to the mission at hand his entire life weather it be family, community, business or teachings of the church. Jim above all loved his family. Jim was an avid horticulturist, he loved flowers and you could always find him pruning roses and cultivating his vegetable garden. Jim is preceded in death by his first wife Margaret with whom he had 3 children. He is survived by his present wife Shirlee; his children Patrick of Captain Cook, HI. Mary (Clay) Kangerga of Chico and Jan ( Scott ) of Honolulu, HI along with his grandchildren Michael, David and Mitchell and 6 great -grandchildren. Family was paramount to him and they will always be grateful for the love he gave and special times they shared together. A Rosary will be held at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am both at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church on March 6, 2014 with a committal following at Glen Oaks Memorial Park.
