Raymond F. Funke Obituary
RAYMOND F. FUNKE Long time Glenn County resident, Raymond F. Funke, 93, died Friday, March 21st surrounded by his wife and children. Loving husband, for 60 years, of Evelyn (Enos) Funke. Beloved father of Kristina Coombes (Dan) of St. Louis, MO, Carl Funke (Connie) of Willows, CA and Karen Schafer (John) of Lawton, OK. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Ray was a World War II Veteran of the Navy and moved to Glenn County in 1949. He began as a dairyman in Bayliss and gradually switched to rice farming. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family, skiing, card playing, house building, square dancing and keeping busy at all times. During his life he was involved in Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, Bayliss Fire Department, Glenn County Farm Bureau, and Full Gospel. In recent years, his membership at Open Gate Christian Fellowship brought him great joy. He has gifted us with a legacy of a love of life, a positive attitude, self-discipline and perseverance that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He lived fully until his last day of life. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 26th at 1:00 PM at Open Gate Christian Fellowship, 950 W. Laurel, Willows, CA. A private interment will follow at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Open Gate Christian Fellowship Building Fund or to a .
