Patricia Evelene (Pat) Powell Obituary
PATRICIA (PAT) EVELENE POWELL 1942-2014 Our beautiful strong mother passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 16, 2014. Pat was born on December 24, 1942 in Columbus, Georgia to Penny and William Ashworth. She was raised by her mother and step-father in Paskenta, Ca. She eventually ended up in Paradise Ca. in 1970 where she met the love of her life Don. They married each other on July 7, 1971. Together they raised six wonderful children. Pat was an avid bowler and archer and won many awards in both sports. She loved the outdoors, camping, and fishing. She and Don became world travelers and visited many wonderful places. Pats favorite was her trip to Turkey. She and Don loved to take frequent trips to Reno and spend time together. Pat was a wonderful mother and always put her family first. She loved hanging out with her grandkids and they loved hanging out with her just as much. Pat was a very tough hardworking woman. She worked many years in road construction where she operated a roller. Years later, Pat, Don and their sons started a trucking business where she drove the trucks right along with the men. She took pride in being a strong woman and instilled that into her daughter as well. A few years ago, her boys made it possible for Pat and Don to retire. This allowed them to spend lots of time with each other, their kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Pat was a perfect example of beauty, strength and unconditional love. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched in her short time on earth. Pat was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother. She is survived by her loving devoted husband Don Powell, her children Ron (Teresa) Hofhenke, Jim Flothenke, Donnie Powell, Mike (Vicki) Powell, Christa (Michael) Waltz, Jason (Stevie) Powell and Sindy (Ron) Culver, 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children, her sisters Sharon, Gwen, Denise and Candy, her step-parents Glenn and Mavis Hanks and many wonderful friends and family. Services were held on April 20, 2014. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the American .
