Susan Schulz Obituary
SUSAN SCHULZ On November 3rd at 11:38 pm, the world lost one of its brightest and most wonderful stars, Susan Christine Schulz. She passed quietly and peacefully in her sleep, after a long fight with a brain tumor. She recently celebrated her 37th birthday on October 29th, and celebrated her 3rd year anniversary with loving husband Shane Will. Susan was born and raised in Chico, Ca. By her parents Kathleen and John Schulz, both retired teachers of Chico. Susan's parents shared their love of travel with her and her brother Mike. While Susan was double majoring in History and Agriculture she even studied abroad in London. Afterwords she continued to and enjoyed traveling with her friends to other countries. Susan was also actively involved in community sustain-ability and education, offering her time and knowledge to local schools and non-profit organizations. In 2004 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Susan showed her strength, and the fight within her. After surgeries/chemotherapy/radiation, she came out on top and alive. Every day she lived life to the fullest, and would be clear of any cancer for over ten years. In 2008, she met the man who would become her husband, Shane Will, and she spent the rest of her life making those years the best, and happiest years of his life. She was the best partner he could ever ask for, making all his dreams come true. They did everything together, and were true soul mates. They opened a game store together here in Chico, Kettil's Keep in 2010, they worked on comic books together starting in 2013. They launched the local Chico-Con Comic Convention together. Working with comics, Susan was able to show her artistic side. She was very proud of the work she did, inking Shane's art, and coloring different books. November 2nd 2013 Susan and Shane were married. After being together for 5 years. The wedding was held in Chico, and the event was full of friends and family. Susan was a beautiful Bride, and so happy that day. It truly was the greatest day of her life, and Shane's too. In 2015 Susan was told there was new tumor growth, and her next battle with brain cancer began. Proving again to everyone how strong she was. She didn't let it stop her, and fought as hard as she could. Within the next year she beat six different tumors, one after another. When a seventh appeared she didn't let it get her down and still fought on. Till the night she passed. Susan fought for life like a Valkyrie and kept her sense of humor while she did. Susan leaves behind her husband Shane who will forever remember her smile, and how she touched his life. and will always miss his partner in all they did, and would have done. Her mother Kathleen, who will miss her daughter's laughter. Her brother Mike, who will miss being pushed around by his big sister. In-laws who loved her like their own daughter. Friends who considered her a sister, who shared her love with them like family. And, colleagues who will miss the excitement she had of bringing comics to life. She will continue in the memories of those who loved her, and in the art she created.
