Evelyn (Melton) Mathis

Evelyn Melton Bluckhorn Mathis, 70, of Chiefland, passed Nov 5, 2013 at Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties in Chiefland surrounded by her loving family.
She was born to James and Lolly Mae (Jones) Melton in Shamrock and was a Levy County native.
After moving to and living in Michigan for 14 years, she moved back and settled in Levy County. Evelyn proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. She worked as Administrative Assistant for the Levy County Agricultural Extension Office and retired after 31 years of service. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed reading, traveling and helping her husband in the lawn care business. Along with her husband and children, her four grandchildren brought such joy to her life.
She is loved and survived by her husband, Earl Mathis of Chiefland; sons, Robert J.M. (Michelle) Bluckhorn of Roseville, Mich., Raleigh Hank (Tracy) Mathis; daughters; Dana Marie Bluckhorn (Kevin) Davis, Carla Regina (Johnny) Kirkland, Kristal Bethany (David) Bandt, all of Chiefland; brothers J.E. Melton of Odessa, Texas, Charles E. Melton of Chiefland, Lloyd Melton of Orlando and her grandchildren, Ashley, Logan, Kaysen, and Tristan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son William Joseph Bluckhorn, brother, David Mark Melton and sisters, Joyce E. Horne and Lola Dean Parker.
Graveside Funeral Services will be on Sunday, Nov 10th at 3:00 PM at Chiefland Cemetery with Pastors Robin Thomas and Eddie Hatch officiating. Visitation will be Sat. Nov 9, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
