Burke Epperson Brooks Sr., 71, of Williston died Dec. 16, 2013.

He was born Aug. 14, 1942. Burke was a graduate of the class of 1960 from Williston High School.
He served with honor and distinction in the United States Army from 1961 to 1969. Burke graduated from the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School in 1966 and fought in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968.
Burke's charisma and leadership propelled him to be a well known small business owner within Levy County and much of his work is still visible throughout the state of Florida to this very day.
He served the community with pride and integrity as a Levy County School Board member.
Burke is survived by his four children, Sandy Skrehot, Darlene Stegall, Burke Brooks Jr. and Matthew Brooks; his widow, Tammy Brooks and his lifelong friend and mother of his children, Jettie Brooks.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday,?Dec. 22 at Plummer Cemetery. The family will accept visitors afterward at the home of Jettie Brooks in Morriston
