Born Dec. 19, 1917 in Ware County, Ga., Caulie Sears was the third of eight children born to Dennis and Lucy Rowell Sears.

On June 18, 1945, Caulie married Juanita "Peaches" Sellers Sears. They spent 48 years devoted to each other until Peaches lost her battle with cancer Sept. 11, 1993.
After a long and successful 27-year career with the Florida Division of Forestry, he retired in 1983. Fifteen of those were in Chiefland at the M. D. Andrews Nursery. He always took great pride in his job, determined to do it right the first time. He was very proud of his large family and loved family get-togethers. He enjoyed talking Gator football, politics and his life experiences. He will be best remembered for his integrity.
He is survived by his children, Judy Taylor Hudson, Lamar Sears and Ray Sears, all of Chiefland, Cary Sears (Gail) of Deatsville, Ala., Wayne Sears (Anne) of Sanford, N.C. and Ricky Sears of Pace; 12 grandchildren, Kim Vickery (Lee), Teresa Johnson, Jennifer (Scott) Costello, Rollin (Nina) Hudson, Kelle (Rickey) Garmon, Melynda (Tim) Buck, Brandon Sears, Matthew Sears, Savannah Powers, Travis Sears, Kyra (John) Graham and Layton Sears; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and four siblings, Gertie Adams, Geneva Osteen, Phantia Rife and Helen Roling.
He wass preceded in death by his wife "Peaches", three sibilings, Coleman Sears, Russie Gilliard, and Hazel Roling and one great-granddaughter, Mallory Garmon.
Caulie passed away June 29, 2013. The family welcomes all relatives, friends and well wishers to the visitation at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services on July 1 from 6-8 p.m.
His funeral service will be in the Hiers-Baxley Chapel July 2 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Chiefland Cemetery.
