Charles Joseph Wieder, 88, of Chiefland, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville.
Mr. Wieder was born to Carl and Helen Wieder in Hackensack, N.J. Mr. Wieder proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWll. Charles was a charter member of St. Johns Evangelist Church in Chiefland and was very active in his church. He was a retired custodian from the Levy County School Board. Charles lived a full and strong life helping others, even driving the school's athletic bus. He has resided in the local area for the past 42 years.
Mr. Wieder leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Barbara Ellen Knouff and Audrey Campbell both of Chiefland; brother, Donald Wieder of New Jersey; sisters, Roseann Wieder and Marrietta Yeoman both of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; 18 grea-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years in 2011.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 22 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 23 at St. Johns Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland. Father Joe McDonald will be officiating. Charles will be laid to rest in Chiefland Cemetery.
