Dorothy Quinn Garrett, 89, of Ocala died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 in Ocala.
She was born Sept. 18, 1922 in Litchfield, Ill., the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary Edith (Ford) Quinn.
After graduating from high school, her first employment was as a beautician. Several years later, she moved to Detroit, Mich. and worked for Michigan Bell Telephone, where through 40 years she rose through the ranks from operator to a management position.
She married Roland Garrett in 1976 and they moved to Chiefland in 1981. After her husband's death, she moved to Ocala., where she was "Citizen of the Year" and "Woman of the Year".
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Eugenia Magalotti; her grandnieces, grandnephews and many, many friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Francis, Robert, John, Morris, Margaret, Isabel and Florence.
A memorial service will be held in the Timber Ridge Chapel of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, Saturday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Ocala at a later date.
