Edward F. Wessels, 70, of Steinhatchee died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Galesburg, Ill. Sept. 21, 1941.
He served in the United States Air Force as a Vietnam Veteran between 1959 and 1966. He moved to Steinhatchee from St. Augustine in 1996 after retiring from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a former licensed Charter Captain. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Steinhatchee.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Pamela Wessels of Steinhatchee; daughter, Deena (Joseph) Hoover of Middleburg; stepdaughter, Lesli (Michael) Upton of Richmond Hill, Ga.; stepson, Charles (Kristen) Frangello of Bourbonnais, Ill.; granddaughters, Sarah and Joei Michelle; grandsons, Mikey and Chuckie; brothers, David (Kathy) Wessels of Jacksonville and Michael Wessels of Perry and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by father Francis Wessels; mother, Evelyn Smith; brothers, Gale and Lawrence Wessels and sister, Cherylen Wessels.
A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church Friday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Aaron Turner and the Rev. Ron Coward officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, 8415 Buck Lake Road, Tallahassee, FL, 32317.
Arrangements are under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City.
