James Raymond Hiers Jr., 68, of Trenton passed away at his home Monday, Sept. 25, 2017.

Moving from Tampa, James lived in Trenton for 14 years. He was a Baptist and a member of the Concord Baptist Church in Chiefland. He was a retired supervisor for the Ryder Truck Company. He was a mechanic and enjoyed working on friends' cars. His passion was his mission work with the Southern Baptist Association and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Hiers, of Trenton; his sons, John Short of Plant City, James R. Hiers III, of Inverness and Robert Clifton Hiers, of Plant City; his brothers, Donnie Hiers of Adele, Ga. and Terry Hiers of Georgia; sisters, Frances Scott of Mayo and Sherry Klawiter of Brandon; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at Knauff Funeral Home-Chiefland at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28. Burial will be Friday, Sept. 29at 11:30 a.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

Arrangements are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home-Chiefland.
