Linwood Earl Koonce Sr. 78, of Chiefland passed away Jan. 19, 2018.
He was born Aug. 23, 1939 to the late William and Eula Mae Koonce in Holly Ridge, N.C., but had lived in the Chiefland area since 1972 after moving here from Jacksonville, N.C. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a paratrooper. He was also a member of the Suwannee River AMVETS Post 422 in Fanning Springs.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and working as a D.J. who everyone knew as Share Cropper. His love of both Bluegrass music and 50's Rock and Roll was evident to anyone who knew him. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Otter Creek.
He is survived by his sons, Linwood Koonce Jr., Derek Koonce and James Koonce; his daughter, Teresa Edwards; his brothers, Cecil Koonce, Ray Koonce and Pete Koonce; a sister, Marie Strobel; seven grandchildren and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday Jan. 26 in the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chiefland Chapel with Bro. Wayne Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m.
