Nyla Jean (Ebert) Lockwood, born Nov. 18, 1940 in Norwich, N.Y. to the late Isabella and Albert Ebert, passed away at age 77 March 26, 2018 in Chiefland.
She attended Tompkins Community College in New York and had a long career at Smith Corona Typewriters until retiring in 1985.
She was married to the late Erwin Lockwood who preceeded her in death. She was also preceeded in death by her brother, Keith Ebert.
She is survived by her sister, Carol Anne Ebert of Camano Island, Wash.; son, Greg Lockwood Sr. of Jacksonville and daughter, Debbie Frost of Dryden, N.Y. Her grandchildren are Tiffany Harber of Old Town, Crystal Lockwood of New York, Greg Lockwood Jr. of Gainesville, Heather Lockwood, April Frost, Nicole Frost and Justina Frost all of New York; great-grandchildren, Samantha Greene, Ronald Greene, Jaden Divers, Xzavion Lockwood, Zoey Eaton, Zakariya Eaton, Dakota Bidwell, Ian Bidwell, Robert Predmore, Scott Watkins, Jacob Watkins, Elizabeth Watkins, and Gabriel Cotrill. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Goldie.
She was an active member of Turning Point Church and volunteered at Haven Hospice and the Chiefland Senior Center.
Friends and family members will have a celebration of her life, officiated by Pastor Kent Zimmermann, on Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. at Turning Point Church, located at 16750 NW 60th Ave., Trenton, FL 32693.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the church.
