Paul Dana Sargent passed away July 14, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center following complications from surgery.
Paul was born Sept. 23, 1941 in Southbridge, Mass. to the late Harold Taylor Sargent and Alice Colcord Sargent.
Paul lived in Minnesota, Connecticut and Florida prior to making his home in Spartanburg. Paul was a good brother and loving son. He made lifelong friends and enjoyed volunteering and community service.
He retired from the Air Force in 1982 after 20 years. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star from his service in Vietnam and was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign War and Air Force Sergeant's Association. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Spartanburg Civitan Club and a recent volunteer at Mary Black Hospital. He was a member of the Catholic Church, Jesus Our Risen Saviour of Spartanburg.
He is survived by five siblings, Kenneth (Sally) Sargent of East Lyme, Conn., Ruthann (Bill Dawson) Ross of Chiefland, James (Joann) Sargent of Rye, N.H., Harold Sargent of Beaverton, Ore. and Barbara (Wayne) Locke of Chiefland, nine nephews and six nieces.
A mass and celebration of life will be held at the Jesus Our Risen Saviour at a later date. Information concerning the date and time of the service may be found online at Southern Cremation Society of Greenville, S.C. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Jesus Our Risen Saviour Catholic Church or Civitan Sunrise of Spartanburg.
