Sarah R. Meeks, age 71, formerly of Chiefland, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at her home in Suwannee.
She was born Nov. 13, 1942 to George W. Truitt Robbins and Mary Eleanor Robbins of Bronson.
Sarah was a homemaker and a schoolteacher in Chiefland for many years. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, painting, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, David W. Meeks Jr.; son, David W. Meeks III and his wife, Debbie; son, Jon R. Meeks; daughter, Patti Lee Meeks and her husband, David Renaud and five grandchildren, Truitt Renaud, Vance Renaud, Eliza Renaud, Jack Meeks and Emma Meeks. She is also survived by a large and much loved extended family and many cherished friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 18 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home in Chiefland. At Sarah's request, there will be no funeral services.
Donations in Sarah's memory may be made to the Chiefland Haven Hospice, DeAnna Beverly, c/o Haven Hospice, 311 NE 9th Street, Chiefland, Florida 32626.

I was so sad to learn last night that a most wonderful person has left us and gone to heaven. Sarah, your uplifting spirit will always be here in Suwannee. My heart goes out to your family. Love, Debbie Jordan

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Mrs. Meeks. I remember her and the rest of her family with fondness.
