Ernest Arledge Jr.
ADELPHI: Ernest Arledge Jr., 70, of Adelphi, OH passed away peacefully at his home, with his loving wife and family by his side, on September 17, 2013. Ernest (Ernie) was born on March 22, 1943 to the late Ernest Arledge Sr. and Marylyn (Ratcliff) Arledge.
Ernie was a life long semi driver, who worked at Owens Illinois, MS Carriers and Fryer's Horse Transport, transporting race horses. He was also a former race car enthusiast, racing at local tracks in his younger years. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family and grandkids.
In 1976, he married Shirley (Neff) Hedges who survives; also surviving are children, Marilyn (Charlie) Ortman, Becky Unger, Bonnie (Duane) Wagner, Randy (Natalie) Hedges, Matthew Hedges and Tracy Arledge; as well as 14 grandkids and eight great-grandkids; uncle, Earl Arledge in Texas; special cousin, Lisa (Russ) McDaniel; and numerous other cousins.
Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Ernest Arledge Sr., and Marylyn Arledge, as well as several uncles and cousins.
Mr. Arledge served in the Army
and was stationed in Vietnam as well as the USSR. Ernie loved nothing more than his grandkids surrounding him.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 am. at the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston with Pastor Jim Vandagriff . Burial will follow at the Green Summit Cemetery with the Ross County Honor Guard. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 pm at Hill's. Online registry at hillfhkingston.com
