MCARTHUR: Harve J. Newman, 88, of McArthur, got his heavenly invitation to meet Jesus, Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

He was born March 17, 1926 in Floyd County, Kentucky, son of the late Hent and Mary Mitchell Newman. Harve was married for 70 years to the late Gladys M. "Jackie" Newman, who passed away March 25, 2014.

He retired from ODOT as a superintendant.

Harve is survived by his son, Ron E. (Janice) Newman of Chillicothe; daughter, Regena (dear friend Gerald) Martin of McArthur; grandchildren, Tammy (Craig) Jones of Chillicothe, Angie Roberts of Kingston, Scott (Cyndi) Newman of Chillicothe, Lanissa (Dan) Newman of McArthur and Barry (Vanessa) Brisker of McArthur; great grandchildren, Nick, Ben, Alli and Luke Jones, Josh and Ashtan Roberts, Nate and McKenna Newman, Asheigh T.T. Wilbur, Bryant, Byron and Caryssa Brisker; a great great grandchild, Brynlea Jones; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Francis and Norma Jean Kuhn, John Moore, Jesse Knight and Randy Mace and a very caring neighbor and precious family friend, James "Bob" Woodard.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kennel, James and Emory Newman; and sisters, Lilly Brown, Dorothy Hall, Dona Hall, Leta Bennett and Fannie Murray.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Sunday, April 6, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Dave McKnight, Rev. Jerry Griffith Jr. and Pastor Jim Eberts officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Harve J. Newman to Hospice of Adena Health Systems, 111 W. Water St., Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
