Hope W. Davisson

Hope W. Davisson

RICHMOND DALE: Born October 23rd, 1924, in the small community of Cadmus, Ohio, an eighth generation direct descendent of Isaac Wiseman I, and the second daughter of Alice (Clyse) and Ernest N. Wiseman, Hope began her journey through her wonderful life of 88 years.

She attended Rio Grande High School and graduated as class salutatorian in 1942. Shortly thereafter she met the love of her life, Richard L. Davisson while he attended Rio Grande College. Their life-long romance began and after Richard's naval service they were married on February 10, 1946. He survives.

Hope had married a man with a great love of athletics. When he started a coaching career at Southeastern High School, she became the one who washed and mended the uniforms of all of the sports teams. Essentially taking on the job as equipment manager and completely supporting her husband's career in everything he did.

Their love and marriage grew as they gave life to three grateful and loving children, Teresa L. (Jerry) Blankenship, Richard E. "Deke" (Terry) Kane and James R. (Debbie) Weaver, all of Ross County.

The family made their home in Richmond Dale, Ohio and when the children had grown to school age, Hope took her management and organizational skills to a higher level on the books as clerk-treasurer for the Southeastern Local School District.

Hope's love of God brought her to membership in the Richmond Dale United Methodist Church for more than 65 years. She served as pianist, organist, choir director and on numerous committees taking on as many other duties as she could so the church ran smoothly. Ice Cream Suppers, Bible School and Christmas programs were some of her favorites.

The soul and spirit of Hope Davisson passed into heaven on the beautiful morning of April 15, 2013 at 10:15 a.m., peacefully at home, as she had wished, with her family surrounding her.

She follows her sisters Betty Brown and Rosena Reese and her brothers Merrill and Harold Wiseman, to her place in heaven. They await one sibling, John Wiseman of Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

Hope Davisson's life was a model of the "Greatest Generation". Accepting every challenge, she gave to it all her vigor and optimism. Only wishing for it all to last just a little bit longer with those she loved.

Hope's extended family includes four grandchildren, David R. (Lindita) Dilley, Amy (Joe) Hutchison, Natalie (Robert) Ebert and Nicholas Davisson. Her great grandchildren are David Thomas and Marina Christine Dilley and Carli Hope and Carter Ricky Hutchison.

Thanks from the family to all her caregivers. She appreciated every one of you.

Funeral services, celebrating Hope's life, will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 in the Richmond Dale United Methodist Church with Pastor Joseph Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the church in Richmond Dale from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
