James Arthur Matthews
LONDONDERRY: James Arthur Matthews, 59, of Londonderry, died 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born January 20, 1955, in Springfield, to Arthur E. and Nancy L. Brown Matthews.
Surviving are his mother, Nancy Matthews Flannery, of Springfield; children, James A. Matthews and fiancee, Kelli Coppel, Joseph Matthews and Amanda Matthews, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Ethan and Logan Matthews and Angel Mossbarger; sisters, Cathy Gage, of Pinellas Park, FL, Karen (Roy) Waddle, of Camp Creek, OH and Lisa (Frank) Trainer, of Chillicothe; brothers, Randy (Trina) Matthews, Jason (Tammy) Matthews, Chris Matthews, all of Springfield, Tim Matthews, of Londonderry and Steaven Matthews, of Pinellas Park, FL; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur E. Matthews; brothers, Richard A. and Robin E. Matthews; and a sister, Debbie Lou Matthews.
James served in the U.S. Army
during the Vietnam War
. He retired from Glatfelter and was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 731 and American Legion Post 757.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at Wares from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
