The Rev. James W. "Bill" Acord
WAVERLY: The Rev. James W. "Bill" Acord, 85, of Franklin Avenue, Waverly, Ohio went home to be with his Lord at 10:05 a.m. November 29, 2013 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio.
James was born November 18, 1928, the son of James Forest and Iva Lou (Brand) Acord. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Bill is survived by five children: Bonnie (Bill) Zimmerman, Penny (Gary) Arnett, Sandy (Terry) Moore, Ted (Sandy) Acord, all of Waverly, and James A. Acord of Wheelersburg; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Bill was a veteran of the Navy in WWII
and was retired from Columbus and Southern Electric Company. He was very active in community affairs, serving as President of the Waverly City Council for more than a decade. His true passion was to spread the Word of God. He pastored churches on Wilson Run, the Omega CCCU and the Pike Run Community Church.
Bill brought the purest kind of love and true friendship to the many people he met. Very few people he met were not touched in a positive way.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly, Ohio with Rev. Marvin Leffler officiating and Eulogy by Blaine Beekman. Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery with military graveside services by the American Legion Merritt Post #142, Waverly, Ohio. Friends may call at the Boyer Funeral Home 4-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
