Jane Mace Ewing Mossbarger
NEW HOLLAND: Jane Mace Ewing Mossbarger, 89, of New Holland, Ohio passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, while peacefully surrounded by her family, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Versailles, KY where she had been living for the past year and a half. She had been in failing health for two years.
Jane was born December 18, 1924, in Waverly, Ohio to Clarence and Pauline Foster Ewing. She was a graduate of The Ohio State University
with a bachelor's degree in business. Soon after graduation, Jane realized her true passion and gift for teaching children. She began her teaching career at the Marion Township School, then third grade at Bloomingburg Elementary School and finally at East Side Elementary School in Washington Court House, for a total of 28 years. She received the Outstanding Educator Award for Washington City Schools in 1989, and continued to share her unique school teacher
stories throughout her life.
Jane was a member of the New Holland United Methodist Church, Alpha Delta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, the Washington Court House Garden Club and Washington Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Jane was also an avid Ohio State football and basketball fan.
She married Lee Archer Mossbarger in 1948. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1988. She was also preceded by her parents and a brother, Robert Ewing of Waverly, Ohio.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Summers of Reisterstown, MD and Rebecca Greco and her husband, Anthony, of Versailles, KY; six grandchildren, Christopher Greco and his wife, Emily, Krista Summers and her husband, Bryon Free, Kelly Bowie and her husband, Joshua, Phillip Greco and his wife, Lisa, Courtney Greco and Geoffrey Greco; three great- grandchildren, Sofia Terese and Annamarie Rebecca Greco and Benjamin Charles Free; and a sister, Mary Ewing Lynch of Canton, PA.
The funeral will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Michael B. Thompson, pastor at the New Holland United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House on Thursday, March 27, 2014, from 4-8 p.m.
