CHILLICOTHE: Raymond M. Rickey, 75, of Chillicothe, went into the arms of Jesus at 2:02 a.m. on April 11, 2013. He was courageous throughout his battle with cancer.

Raymond was born to Wilbur and Blanche (Turner) Rickey on September 5, 1937. On July 23, 1988, he married Jeanette (Walsh), who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeff (Vickie) Rickey; a daughter, Cheryl (Tracey) Watson; grandchildren, Katie and Megan Watson, Josh (Roslyn) Varnado; two great-granddaughters, Leah and Audrey Varnado; brothers, Allen (Margaret) Rickey, Gale (Sharon) Rickey; sister, Pat Bell; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Dwight Bell.

Raymond worked at Mead Paper for 35 years and retired in 2000. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1962. He was a handyman for family, neighbors and friends and never charged them. He was a member of the NRA, U.P.I.U. Local 731, and the American Legion Post 62. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and contributed to many charities.

Private services, with Pastor Leonard Roop officiating, will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
