Raymond P. Howard
CHILLICOTHE: Raymond Pharis Howard, 86, of Chillicothe, formerly of Richmond Dale, quietly slipped away from his family and friends on September 7, 2013, at Adena Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Lewis County, KY, to Fielden and Myrtle (Horsley) Howard. He resided in Richmond Dale for most of his life. In 2012, he moved to Hopeton Village in Chillicothe with his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Mae (Stoneburner) Howard, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Dennis Eugene (Roxanne) Howard, Paul Edward (Teena) Howard; and Thomas Elvie (Betty) Howard, all of Chillicothe; a daughter Sharon Elaine (Boyd) Smith, Albuquerque, NM; a daughter-in-law Brenda Howard; brother Orville (Flora) Howard; sisters-in-law Bessie Stoneburner and Edna Mae Howard; sisters Edna Reed and Shirley Himelrick; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his oldest son, Ernest Ray Howard; brothers, Leroy, Glenn Roe and Marvin Elwood Howard; and a sister Gladys Holton.
He served his country in the US Army
during the Korean Conflict
and spent several years with the National Guard. He worked for 29 years for Groves Frozen Foods in Chillicothe. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, lawn mower repair and going to yard sales.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at the HALLER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor John Evans officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. Friends may call Wednesday from 11:30am until 1:30pm at the funeral home.
