Robert B. Coyer
CLARKSBURG: Robert B. Coyer, of Clarksburg, died at home April 16, 2013, after an extended illness.
Bob graduated from Muskingum University and received his Masters Degree from Ohio University. He worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Chillicothe for over 30 years until retirement. Always active and driven to help others, Bob also worked as a Licensed Social Worker at Paint Valley Mental Health Center after his retirement from the VA.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. Coyer; sons Ryan Coyer and Dean McGarvey; daughter Christina McGarvey Cornell; sister Marcia Pierce; granddaughter Wendi (Jon) Benson; grandson Jalon (Chanel) Graves; as well as great-grandsons Ronin Danger Benson and Logan Robert Graves; his father-in-law James Michael, many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Rollin B. Coyer; mother Anna Mae Coyer; and grandson Jarrod Lee Cornell.
Bob was an avid arrowhead and mushroom hunter, fisherman and investigator of the Big Foot phenomenon. Bob was also a power lifter for over 30 years and accumulated many awards and trophies as a competitor and a tireless advocate of "drug free" training practices.
According to his wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm Sunday, April 21, at Haller Funeral Home with Chaplain Billy Morris officiating, his National Church Residences hospice chaplain.
