Clyde Herbert Tackett

PIKETON: Clyde Herbert Tackett, 78, of Chenoweth Fork Road, Piketon, Ohio, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born June 9, 1932 in Argillite, Kentucky, son of the late Orville Chester Tackett and Goldie Mae Gillispie Tackett. On May 31, 1957, Clyde was united in marriage to Frances Carolyn Adams Tackett who survives; also surviving is a son, Christopher Eugene Tackett and wife, Odgie of Piketon; two daughters, Connie Ward and husband, Thomas and Rhonda Younker and husband, Paul both of Piketon; four grandchildren, Joshua (Laura) Ward, Beth Tackett, Michael and Matthew Younker; a great grandson, Christopher Bragdon; a brother, Orville C. Tackett of Columbus, Ohio; and a sister, Freda Chapman of Ashland, Kentucky.

In addition to his parents; two grandsons, Mark and Timothy Ward; a brother, Hassel Lenn Tackett; and two sisters, Phyllis Ann Hensley and Esther Kees preceded Clyde in death.

Clyde was a retired Deputy Warden at the Southern Ohio Correctional Institute in Lucasville, Ohio, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of Orient Lodge #321 F&AM in Waverly, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, a member of Aladdin Shrine in Columbus, a member of American Legion Post 363 in Lucasville and a member of Union Hill Community Church.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Union Hill Community Church, with Pastor Phil Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery with American Legion Post 363 of Lucasville conducting military graveside services. Friends may call at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home in Piketon from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
