Benjamin L. Steiner

CHILLICOTHE: Benjamin L. Steiner, 79, of Chillicothe, died 10:59 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 in Adena Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born August 1, 1934, in Dayton, to the late Clair L Sr. and Lou Emma Holyman Steiner.

On June 6, 1958, he married the former Joan Patterson, who survives; also surviving are children, Benjamin L. Steiner II, of Las Vegas, NV, Tatjana (Victor) Austin, Tina L. (Larry) Vinings and Heidi Graves, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Tara (Nathan) Gillum, Cody (J. C.) Vinings, Casey Vinings, Jenny Graves, Joseph Searles, and Monique and Eli Austin; great-grandchildren, JayLynn and Conner Vinings; brothers, Clyde J. (Jackie) Steiner, of Lincoln, NE and Clair L. (Sally) Steiner, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by a sister, Bonnie Steiner.

Benjamin served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Ben was retired from the DuPont Plant in Circleville. He was a member of F.O.E. Aeries 600 and American Legion Post 62.

Ben was an avid Ohio State fan. He loved watching his grandsons play baseball and his granddaughter march at halftime. He was proud of all his children and grandchildren. Ben was a wonderful provider for his wife and family. Above all he has been honest in his dealings with his fellowmen, full of integrity, kind, gentle and loving. He will be sadly missed.

Funeral services will be held 1 p. m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. David Titler officiating. Following will be military rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at Wares from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
