WAVERLY: On March 23, 2013 our beloved husband, daddy and "Papum", Edward Harold Carter, Sr. left this earthly world to wait for us in heaven. He passed from this world quietly in the home built with his own hands. His family was his pride and joy, and he loved to "brag" on them.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Darlene Carter whom he loved and adored; three children who each will carry a piece of him with them forever, his eldest daughter, Marsha Elaine (Keith) Stewart, his "middle child" MarKell Edana (Jeff) Mettler and his namesake, Edward Harold (Janelle) Carter, Jr. He also leaves eight grandchildren with whom he laughed and played, and will always be "tight". They are Jessica, Katherine and Kassandra Stewart, Alexis and Lucas Mettler, and Edward (Trey) III, Breeanna and Zane Carter; he had one great grandson, Jameson; also surviving are one brother and one very special sister-in-law, Leonard and Joy Carter, with whom he shared a special bond, and was by his side during his many "projects". He is also survived by his two baby sisters, Helen Brannan and Ellen (Cliff Hughes) Claytor, and Joyce Tackett. He also left behind numerous nieces and nephews to whom he will always be "Uncle Roe".
He was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Okie and Ruth Carter; three brothers, Harlen Ray, Kenneth Bruce and Okie "Cecil".
He was a real estate agent with Doles Realty, Inc, and prepared taxes at his home office for over 50 years.
Harold "Stick" Carter was an amazing man who served his country with pride as a United States Marine during the Vietnam era from 1961 to 1967 and again as a member of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Logan Elm Masonic Lodge #624.
