CHILLICOTHE: Joseph A. Grubb, 101, of Chillicothe, died 5:55 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 in Heartland of Chillicothe following an extended illness.
He was born February 28, 1911, in Ross County, to the late Oliver and Lydia Mick Grubb. On May 3, 1933, he married Elsie J. Shanks who died July 22, 1993.
Surviving are sons, Darold J. (Janie) Grubb, of Chillicothe and Richard (Phyllis) Grubb, of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Becky (Brent) Stonerock, of Cincinnati, Sunny Grubb, of St. Augustine, Andy (Sherryl) Grubb, of Chillicothe and Randy (Teresa) Grubb, of Richmond, VA; great grandchildren, Brandon (Tracey) Grubb, Travis (Blair) Grubb, Lindsey Grubb, Jason Stonerock, Christopher Stonerock, P.J. Stonerock and Nicholas Stonerock; great great grandchildren, Cade, Cordell, Tristan, Matt, Chase, Taylor and Rylan; a great granddaughter-in-law, Tonja Grubb, of Bainbridge; a sister, Jean Moran, of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a great grandson, Jeremy Grubb; a brother, Howard A. Grubb; sisters, Rosaline Gragg, Mae Uhrig, Elsie Cottrill, Jessie Kellough; and an infant sister and brother.
Joseph was a member of Bethel Chapel Christian Union Church. He retired from Mead Corporation in 1975 and was a board member for Teen Missions International. Joseph was a member of U.P.U.I. Local 731.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Roger Phillips and Rev. Bob Bland officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
