CHILLICOTHE: Raymond Joseph Kleman, 79, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2014, at Valley View Care Center, after several years of Alzheimer's disease. He was born on March 18, 1934, to the late Oscar and Adeline (Knippen) Kleman of Putnam County, Ohio.
Ray was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Pothast; four brothers; one sister; and step-daughter Kelly Harker Holstein.
He is survived by wife, Jacqueline Dearth Harker of 36 years; children, Diane (Allen) Starkey, of Groveport OH, Steve (Becky) Kleman, of Ashville OH, and Gary Kleman, of Cincinnati; step-children, Jody (Pete) Bible, of Morristown NJ and Jamey Harker of New Albany OH; a step son-in-law, Jeff Holstein of Algonquin IL; and, grandchildren, Stephanie (Matt) Jones, Sarah (Donald) Westcamp, Jackie Bible, Erick Starkey, Nicholas Kleman, Zach Bible, Rachel Holstein, Gryphon Kleman, and Teagan Kleman; a sister, Carol (Jerry) Musser of Bluffton, OH; a brother-in-law, Robert L. Dearth of Circleville OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He has been a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Chillicothe for over 36 years and was on the St. Peter's Parish Council, lifetime member of Knights of Columbus, member of BOMA, charter member and first chairman of the Franchise Advisory Board of Coustic Glo Inc. of Minneapolis, MN, served on Bishop Flaget School Board, Habitat for Humanity, along with numerous other community, civic, and theater activities. When Ray was 14 years old, he left his home to attend Brunnerdale Seminary (Canton, OH) for the Society of the Precious Blood; then attended St. Joseph's College (Collegeville IN) for two years. Following college he worked for two years as an assistant manager in a grocery supermarket (1955-1957). Ray worked for ITT Continental Baking Company (Wonder Bread) for 23 years. Started as a Routeman and progressed through Assistant Supervisor, Supervisor, Branch Manager and General Sales Manager (1957-1980)
In 1980 Ray started his own Business "Koustic Klean Inc." and he became very successful. He trained 83 people throughout the United States, Canada, Poland, Thailand, and Puerto Rico. In 1984 his son Steve Kleman joined him in the business. Steve will assume role of CEO of Koustic Klean. Ray and Jackie were world travelers. Over the years have visited 10 countries, Mexico (8 locations), 6 cruises, 42 states including Hawaii twice, and Alaska. Although he loved his worldly travels his favorite regular location was their condo in Myrtle Beach. The family would like to thank numerous friends, family members, and the staff of Valley View Care Center for the support, encouragement, and love.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in St. Peter Catholic Church with Rev. William P. Hahn Celebrant. Burial will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in St. John' Cemetery in Delphos, OH. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m.
