Dow was a long-time principal at Logan Elm High School, Assistant Superintendent and classroom teacher. He often said that his position there was a labor of love, the faculty and students were great. Dow was very proud of his three years in the U.S. Navy. He served for 1 ½ years in the Pacific during the war while participating in five major operations. He made many life-time friendships while aboard the carrier, which he prized highly and have lasted to this day. Dow very much loved playing cards and word games with his wife, Charlotte. He greatly enjoyed touring the U.S. with his wife and children with the R.V. in tow. He was a wood-working enthusiast and worked two crosswords every day. The Spanish language was a hobby along with current events and history. An avid fisherman, he spent many years fishing at Dale hollow Lake in Tennessee.
