Dow was very proud of his three years in the U.S. Navy. He served for 1 ½ years in the Pacific during the war while participating in five major operations. He made many life-time friendships while aboard the carrier, which he prized highly and have lasted to this day. Dow very much loved playing cards and word games with his wife, Charlotte. He greatly enjoyed touring the U.S. with his wife and children with the R.V. in tow. He was a wood-working enthusiast and worked two crosswords every day.
