Mildred Pauline Cormany

WAVERLY: Mildred Pauline Cormany, 101, of Seventh Street, Waverly, Ohio died June 30, 2014 in the Traditions at Bristol Village, Waverly, Ohio surrounded by her family.

She was born June 7, 1913 in Perry County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Joseph Clyde Tharp and Mary Ellen (Lesher) Tharp. On June 27, 1936 Mildred was united in marriage to Lee Eugene Cormany who preceded her in death on October 30, 2003.

She is survived by two sons, Wade E. Cormany and wife Mary Alice of Delaware Ohio and Gary L. Cormany and wife Cynthia of Leesburg, FL; and one daughter, Mary Ellen Cormany of Waverly, Ohio. She had 13 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 13 great great-grandchildren.

Her parents; husband; a sister, Arlene Swords; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandson, preceded Mildred in death.

Mildred graduated from Actual Business College in Akron, OH in 1933. She was a merchandiser for Fisher Brothers department store from 1929-1950. She traveled the world with her husband for Goodyear. She volunteered for the USO in Greece and Australia during that time. She was also a 70-year member of The Order of the Eastern Stars Billow Chapter #483, Akron, OH. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, bargain hunting, fishing and her cats. She loved baking for her family and friends, especially her famous Buttermilk cookies.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday July 3, 2014 at the Ivy Chapel in Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron, Ohio officiated by Rev. Keith McLaughlin. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Akron, Ohio. Friends may call at the BOYER FUNERAL HOME from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 with an Eastern Stars service at 7:00 pm.
