John W. "Buck" Clifford

CHILLICOTHE: John William "Buck" Clifford, 80, of State Route 772, Chillicothe, Ohio died Monday May 21, 2012 at his home.

He was born September 4, 1931 in Waverly, Ohio, son of the late Edward Clifford, Sr. and Minnie Bushatz Clifford. On August 27, 1950 Buck was united in marriage to Helen Bundy Clifford, who preceded him in death on January 30, 1991.

Surviving is a son, Kenneth William Clifford and wife, Betty Jo of Chillicothe; four daughters, Linda Lou Braun and husband, Charles of Chillicothe, Carolyn Sue Mustard of Idaho, Ohio, Kathy Ann Hall of Waverly, Janet Marie Troncone and husband, Charles of Chillicothe; 20 grandchildren, Mike Wright, Angel Wright, Alicia (Troy) Dyke, Jeremy Clifford, Carisa Mustard, Scott (Brandie) Mustard, Tim Mustard, Tangie (Vincent "Duke") Music, Jennifer Hall, John Hall, Dale Bryant-Nunley, Destry Bryant-Nunley, Dawn (Jeff) Hughes, Fawn (Jody) Stewart, Benjamin Barker, Dana (Eric) Kirkman, Beth Ann Authurs, Michelle Clifford, Kenny Clifford, Brett Gompf; 24 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; a brother, Robert "Bobby" Clifford and wife, Sally of Waverly; as well as three sisters, Katherine Watkins of Bainbridge, Ohio, Ruby Jones and husband, Norman of Kenton, Ohio and Joyce Pierce of Chillicothe.

In addition to his parents and wife; two brothers, Edward Clifford, Jr., Gene Rinehart; two sisters, Helen Fultz and Eva Smith; and three grandsons, Jeffrey Wright, Everett Thomas Hall, III and Charles Troncone, Jr., preceded Buck in death.

John was a retired heavy equipment operator with Decker Construction Company, a member of Eagles lodge #2227, Waverly, Moose Lodge #2263, Waverly and Operating Engineers, Local 18, Columbus, Ohio. Buck was known and loved by all. He was a legend in his time.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the BOYER FUNERAL HOME, in Waverly with Rev. Alan Newberry and Rev. Randall L. Rinehart, Officiating. Burial will follow in Pennisten Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
