Joseph E. Bowsher

CHILLICOTHE: Joseph E. Bowsher, 73, of Chillicothe, went home to be with the Lord at 5:37 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born December 4, 1938, in Ross County, to the late Osce L. and Grace M. Johnson Bowsher. On April 6, 1982, he married the former Donna M. Barker who survives.

Also surviving are his beloved sons from his first marriage to the former Barbara Jean Reed Thimons, J. Jay (Alysia) Bowsher, of West Chester, PA and Jon J. (Leigh) Bowsher, of Blacklick, OH. The boys grew into strong, successful men that loved their father dearly. He was so proud of them. He is also survived by grandchildren, Christina Bowsher, Erin Bowsher, Gram Bowsher, Frankie Bowsher and Lizzie Settineri; a sister, Joyce Ann (Rick) Griffith, of Peoria, AZ; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a step- brother, Jack Bowsher.

His life and faith were an inspiration to all. Although he suffered serious health problems the last 15 years of his life, his attitude and outlook on life were an example for all of us. Pastor Dan Bennett helped Joe and his wife, Donna during difficult times and led them to Brookside Church where they became active members. The Brookside Church Family was a very important part of their lives.

Joe enjoyed golfing, watching OSU football, Nascar Races and spending time with his family and friends.

He began his working life as a Wonder Bread Man and a gas station attendant. Joe moved on up to a bank teller and then a bank manager for many years. He completed his working life as a supervisor at Kenworth Truck Company. Joe was a member of Brookside Church and Orient Lodge # 321 F&AM of Waverly. He served in the Quarter Master Corps Reserves for 6 years having been discharged as a Sergeant.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 in Brookside Church with Pastor Jack Norman and Pastor David Dean officiating. Burial will follow Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call at Brookside Church from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brookside Senior Center 2215 Egypt Pike Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
