Carol Rita Kaehele Henry

CHILLICOTHE: Carol Rita Kaehele Henry, of Chillicothe, was taken to heaven in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the age of 79 following an extended illness.

Known for her sparkling eyes and loving heart, Carol kept the home fires burning for her husband of 59 years, James R. Henry, who survives along with their five children, Michael D. (Sandy), Patricia J. Casteel (Brady), Vancil J. (Linda), Brenda K. Smith (Shawn) and Peggy C. Riggin (Daniel). Also surviving is her only sibling, sister, Kay Kimbler (Ron); a special niece, Catherine Hamilton Smith who helped care for her as well as eighteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

Carol was born the elder daughter of Medford E. and Clarice M. Cassill Kaehele in Columbus, Ohio on October 18, 1933. She attended Linden-McKinley School in Columbus and often spent her summers in Chillicothe assisting her grandmother with the care of a nursing facility on her property in Andersonville. While attending church at Andersonville Methodist, she met Jim Henry and they began courting. Instead of returning to Columbus for her senior year, she stayed with her grandmother and received her diploma from Unioto High School in 1951. After graduation, she studied nursing at White Cross Hospital in Columbus. She left nursing to marry Jim. He and Carol were united in marriage at the home of Rev. Samuel Elsie on Flag Day, June 14, 1953.

Gifted in art and music, Carol offered her talents in her devotion to God, teaching many children in Bible Clubs and Sunday Schools for decades, serving in a variety of church ministries through the course of over 50 years and bringing up her five children in honor, faith and unconditional love.

In addition to being a full-time farm wife and mother, she worked as a Case Worker for Frontier Community Services for 8 years.

Carol was a long-time member of Chillicothe Baptist Church. Her church family, including special friends, Jim and Cecile Mays, were very near and dear to her heart. Carol was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Chillicothe Baptist Church with Rev. John Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
