Doyle K. Clay

GREENFIELD: Doyle K. Clay, 87, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was born August 20, 1927 in Leon, Iowa , the son of the late Walter Swen and Maude Charlotte Lillie Clay. He married the former Jane McConnell in Germany on November 8, 1958 and she survives.

Also surviving is one daughter, Lori Ann (Brian) Henkle of Chillicothe; two sons, Thomas D. (Diane) Clay of Clinton, IL, Steven D. Clay of Marshville, NC and his fiancé, Jenny Bradley of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Travis Stewart and April Bradley; one sister, Clara V. Kilgore of Clearfield, IA; numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Charlotte M. Rhyne of Milwaukie, OR; and a sister-in-law, Betty Chaney of Washington C.H.

He was preceded indeath by three sisters and three brothers.

Doyle was a 1945 graduate of Leon Public Schools, Leon, Iowa. He entered the United States Air Force in 1948 and retired as a TSGT on July 31, 1968 following twenty years of service. After his retirement he worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Handyman's Club of America and the Disabled American Veterans.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. in ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery with military honors being accorded by a contingent from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Friends may visit with Doyle's family on Thursday at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m.
