Hendrix, Mary Martha (Turpin) - Caryville
Mary Martha Turpin Hendrix, April 17, 1926 to December 29, 2014. Our mother was born in Evansville, Ind. She was an only child who left behind a family legacy of her own. Raised in Kentucky, her family moved to California, then back to Kentucky. She had only started her journey. She married our father, Paul Hendrix sr. on March 8, 1945 after a brief romantic, wartime courtship. They were married 62 years. He passed away in 2006. She was a military wife who knew how to travel. She was lucky to have seen the world with her family in tow. She loved to talk about the places she had been: Japan, France, and Turkey. She had a privileged life about which only a few can brag. She loved arts and crafts and sewing and played golf every chance she had. They retired in 1969 and settled in Tampa. She was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine, and Daughters of the Nile. In 2008 she settled in Caryville to the leisurely lifestyle of country living. She always missed her friends in Tampa. She was truly loved by many and will be forever missed. She is at peace; God bless her. She is survived by six children; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. There are numerous nieces and nephews who will remember Aunt Martha's smile and contagious laughter. She will be buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell beside her husband.
