Percy Preston "Pete" Fish, Sr., 79, of Bonifay, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Pete was born in Starke, on July 8, 1934, to the late John Sterling Fish and Charlotte Coffin Fish. He graduated from Leon High School in Tallahassee, in 1953. He married Irene Rosella Geddie, on April 25, 1953. Pete was a beloved member and former Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Bonifay. He also enjoyed serving in many civic organizations including the Kiwanis Club, the Lions Club and the Gideons. He was a member of the Westville Masonic Lodge. He served on the board of directors of the ARC of Washington-Holmes Counties and the Holmes Council on Aging. He was also an advocate for orphans and donated generously to the Baptist and Methodist Children's Homes. Pensacola Mill Supply employed him for 21 years as a sales representative. He later started Bonifay Parts and Equipment Company (NAPA), which he operated for over 30 years. Pete was a real estate broker with Fish Realty in Holmes County for approximately 30 years and he and his wife Irene were founding members of the Chipola Area Board of Realtors.
His wife of 60 years, Irene Geddie Fish, and their infant daughter, Rose Marie Fish, preceded him in death.
Pete is survived by four children, Percy Preston Fish, Jr. (Audrey) of Tallahassee, David Sterling Fish, Sr. (Leah) of Dillard, Ga., Charles Andrew Fish (Mandy) of Lake City, and Tabitha Fish Wichowski (Tommy) of Panama City Beach; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and 15 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Sims Funeral Home at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 25. The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26,2014, at the First Baptist Church of Bonifay with the burial immediately following at New Effort Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home directing.
