Mrs. Avonelle Sims Hagans, age 91, of Bonifay, passed away Dec. 10, 2013 at her home surrounded by family. She was born May 12, 1922 in Bonifay. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Avonelle loved her family, church and friends. She worked as an aide at Bonifay Elementary School for many years. She enjoyed her Sunday School Class, reading, cooking and embroidery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie W. Hagans; a son, Larry W. Hagans; parents, James Archie and Arglee Vann Sims; three brothers, Jimmy Sims, Gene Sims and Archie Vann Sims and a grandson, Jimmie L. Sanders.
Mrs. Hagans is survived by her son, Bobby Alan and wife Tina of Bonifay; her three daughters, Margie Sanders of Panama City, Ronnie Gentry of Bonifay and Gail Wagner and husband Marvin of Vernon; two granddaughters, Angela Sanders and Rebecca Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 at First Baptist Church Bonifay with the Rev. Shelly Chandler and the Rev. Jeep Sullivan officiating. Interment followed in the St. John Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home directing. Family received friends from 9:30 to 11a.m. at First Baptist Church Bonifay. Serving as active pallbearers were Neal Simms, Mark Sims, Ronald Hagans, Donnie Hagans, David Simms and Terry Hagans with honorary pallbearers being Mike Sims and Vann Sims.
