LaVaughn Pettis, age 77 of Chipley, passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 in Flowers Hospital in Dothan. LaVaughn was born Jan. 1, 1936 in Chipley to the late Henry Arthur and Minnie Vera (Strickland) Pettis. He was a retired welder and boilermaker and a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church in Chipley.

Survivors include one son, Rodney L. Pettis of Chipley; one daughter, Laura Lynn Jones and husband Kenny of Chipley; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
The family received friends Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Brickyard Road Chapel with the Rev. James Watford officiating. Cremation followed.
